Woodfarm Barns & Barges

Happy New Year!

We were invited to review Woodfarm Barns & Barges, all opinions are our own and not influenced by the owner.

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas filled with love and joy. We spent Christmas with our family enjoying festive food, playing classic board games and having cuddles with all the dogs; Polly, Maxi and Skip (except he's very old and a little grumpy so we often just let him get on with his day in peace).

After New Years day, which we spent at Jacks Grandma's, we had something really special to look forward to, as the day after we travelled down to Suffolk to review Woodfarm Barns & Barges! It is an Our Fluffy Family first as we have never visited Suffolk before so we were travelling with anticipation of adventures to come.

Woodfarm Barns & Barges offer two Dutch barges and seven dog friendly self catering luxury cottages all of which have been acknowledged with a gold award by Visit England for Quality in Tourism.

Collaborating with a company that aligns with our values for a brilliant get away is extremely important to us. Upon arrival we instantly felt at ease in the rural surrounds, the calming essence of the accommodation is perfect to relax and appreciate every precious moment.

We stayed in Alde Barn (accepts up to 3 dogs) it's exterior really does evoke a fairytale lovers dream, it's completely magical.

The main room is absolutely exquisite, with the high vaulted ceilings and oak beams it brings classic sophistication and pure elegance. We were also in awe of the striking timber staircase which was one of our favourite features from the property.

With a log burning stove and a leather sofa to sink into, it was absolutely heaven. Polly loved to snuggle up on her blanket to snooze.

A traditional farm house lovers paradise followed with the kitchen. I'm so glad that they kept the furnishings traditional as to introduce modern characteristics would completely contradict the true essence of the property.

They have stayed true to the foundations of the property, the antique furnishings give it that oh so wonderful appeal and we not only appreciated it, we loved it!

Opening the back door we stepped into the best enclosed garden space we have visited by a mile. It was completely secure so Polly could roam around for as long as she liked without us having to stand and watch or get out her doggy stake.

A massive plus to the property for humans was the luxurious hot tub and I love that it was undercover as whatever the weather you can hit the tub!

Listening to the rain thunder down whilst you sip on a ice cold beverage in bubbling heaven, doesn't that sound rather perfect?

We could even prop our laptop on the outside table and watch our favourite shows whilst reminiscing about the year 2017.

The mezzanine bedroom was very spacious and the double sleigh bed added to the magic of the property. With your last thoughts before getting some shut eye take a moment to appreciate your surroundings, it's hard not to be in awe of the beautiful exposed oak beams, such rustic beauty.

The bathroom downstairs is the perfect size with a beautiful classic overhead shower, toilet and sink.

It was nice that Polly could make herself as comfortable as us and that's what makes a dog-friendly stay very special, Woodfarm even provided Polly with special treats and poo bags on arrival.

We received a beautiful breakfast hamper full of local produce which is included in your stay, it's a great personal touch which makes you feel well looked after.

Our basket contained all the essentials for a spectacular breakfast and what an incredible way to start the day.

A stones throw away is Woof - Farm Meadow a fantastic 2 acre area to exercise your dog, it features seating areas for adults and even equipment to practice agility with your dog.

It's such a fantastic place to admire the Suffolk countryside. What was really nice to see about this parkland is they had a separate enclosed area for older or nervous dogs, so there is space for all pooches to enjoy themselves.

After that the owner of Woodfarm Barns & Barges told us if we walked a little further down we would come across a church and he said it was strikingly beautiful and oh my he wasn't wrong. This church was built in in the 15th Century and has retained every ounce of beauty it is by far the nicest church we have both seen and I am really proud of this shot I captured.

BARGE

After Alde Barn we were beyond excited to stay in one of Woodfarm's Barges! Again it's an Our Fluffy first and an experience that we can't quite believe we are reviewing for you all.

We stayed on Twee Gebroeders (sleeps 2-4) a 64ft fully restored Dutch Sailing Barge on the Tidemill Woodbridge Suffolk waterfront. Three dogs are welcome on board so no-pup is left out, it's a memorable adventure for all the family.  The barge is static so is not a sailing holiday, I was quite relieved as Jack does not have a great history with boats haha (don't ask about punting)!

Dog Life Jackets Provided

Woodbridge is a small town with a home sweet home feeling, there is plenty to keep you occupied however, you could also have a long lazy afternoon without a care in the world. Whatever your desire this location has it all for new adventures. Whilst in Woodbridge we were blown away by the quality of beautiful independent shops, Polly in particular loved The World Of Pets who are a luxury pet store that only supply the finest nutritional foods and fantastic toys, the shop caters for all house hold pets which is marvellous.

Steeping aboard the barge I can honestly say you could be anywhere in the world, the surroundings are like no other. Woodfarm Barns & Barges, for us, definitely stand out for adding a magical element to your stay.

The open cockpit seating area is just INCREDIBLE even as our stay was in Winter it doesn't matter, wrap up, get outside and enjoy yourself, as after all life is to short to miss out on unique experiences.

The furnishings are traditional with modern undertones. The open saloon offers a comfortable living/dining area featuring a state of the art kitchen and, with the beautiful cast iron range cooker providing heating, we were as snug as bugs in a rug. With a flat screen TV featuring a DVD and CD player you could read and relax accompanied by your favourite music or curl up on the sofa as a family and watch your favourite feel good movie. We watched Keeping Mum, a British comedy starring Rowan Atkinson and Maggie Smith, it had us both in stitches, definitely worth a watch!

Down the corridor the first cabin features a twin bedroom which is a comfortable resting place for adults or children. It also has another TV, so if someone would like some quiet time or has been outnumbered by a particular choice of programme they can retreat to their own space and relax.

We slept in the double cabin which is a luxurious space, the numerous port holes really light up the room. We were also really surprised at the abundance of storage space on the barge, it's incredibly helpful. Like the twin cabin the double also features a TV, I really do love this factor as I really like to wind down in bed with some quality TV.

The bathroom on the barge is a good size and has different function buttons for how a toilet and shower would usually work but the owner shows you how to work everything and it's super straight forward. The bathroom features beautiful Dutch Delft hand painted tiles inspired by Suffolk's most famous bird which really brings the outside in. Also with a radiator in the bathroom it is very toasty so after a shower you definitely won't be chilly.

We travelled out one day to Great Yarmouth which was about an 1hr15 drive and was totally worth it. 15 miles of stunning sandy beach and if, like us, you like a little bit of fun on seaside amusements and the sweet smell of fish and chips you'd love the day out.

You tell me off for not seeing much of me so here you go! Haha

We went to the dog friendly Wellington Pier to have a little fun on some amusements, Polly watched Mummy and Daddy bowling and then she helped us tackle the 2p machines, I definitely think she was our lucky charm! If you follow us on our Instagram we shared all our amusement moments on our Insta Stories.

After the amusements it was time to fill our bellys and when at the seaside it's got to be fish&chips right?! It was super delicious and eating with the view of the sun sparkling on the sea was simply delightful.

Then to the beach! We were the only people on the entire stretch of the beach and Polly just loved running through the waves, rolling in the sand and getting both her humans covered in sand!

Because we visited out of season it was super enjoyable as it was so quiet and all you could hear was the mesmerising sound of the waves rolling onto the beach.

This brings us to the end of our New Year adventure in collaboration with Woodfarm Barns & Barges.

I hope you enjoyed reading.
We wish you all a happy 2018.
